Scholarships<\/h1>\n

College is an investment into your future, and planning how you will pay for it is more important now than ever. We\u2019ve provided you with some resources for finding scholarships\u2014both in-house and national\u2014to help finance your education.<\/p>\n

NAU Honors announces new student merit scholarship deadline<\/h2>\n

Incoming freshman Honors students for Fall or Spring who apply to Honors before November 15 prior to their term of admission are automatically considered for a limited number of $1000 Honors scholarships. Get your application<\/a> to Honors in early! Applicants who submit applications after November 15 are considered on a funds-available basis.<\/p>\n

Nemesio Canales Rivera Honors Scholarship Accordion Closed<\/span><\/h4>\n <\/span>\n <\/div>\n <\/a>\n

The Nemesio Canales Honors Scholarship supports Honors College students who have financial need. The award provides funding for the Honors Program fee and a small stipend for books and supplies to help students access Honors education. This scholarship is named for Nemesio Canales Rivera (1879-1923) a prominent Puerto Rican writer, public scholar, activist, and advocate committed to human rights and access to knowledge. Students who identify as Hispanic or indigenous and those coming from rural areas are especially encouraged to apply.<\/p>\n

Deadline to apply is April 15, 2025<\/u><\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

Criteria:<\/p>\n

    \n
  1. Students enrolled in the NAU Honors College,<\/li>\n
  2. The applicant has remaining costs of attendance not covered by other aid, excluding loans; and<\/li>\n
  3. Students who meet the Access to Excellence (A2E) initiative income threshold.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    Garcia Family Honors Scholars Program<\/strong><\/h2>\n

    The Honors College is proud to announce the Garcia Family Honors Scholars Program, which began in Fall 2023. This scholarship is established by the Garcia Family Foundation and will be renewable for up to four years. It is designed to ease the financial burden of a truly high-quality undergraduate educations for some of the most deserving Arizona students and encourages more students from underserved communities to see themselves in Honors. Garcia Family Scholars will benefit from a financial scholarship, programming opportunities, and a community of support.<\/p>\n\n

    Students must meet the following criteria:<\/p>\n

    1. Enrolled full-time as an undergraduate in Northern Arizona University\u2019s Honors College
    \n2. Maintain a grade point average of 3.30 or higher (where A = 4.0);
    \n3. Remaining costs of attendance not covered by other aid
    \n4. Arizona Resident<\/p>\n

    Incoming freshman Honors students for Fall 2025 are eligible for this award. Applications will be reviewed on April 15, 2025. Review will take place by an internal committee and the Garcia Family Foundation, and scholars will be notified in mid-May 2025. All communication about this award will be to NAU email addresses. The Garcia Scholarship cannot be held concurrently with the Flinn or Dorrance Scholarship but is otherwise stackable with other University or Honors College awards. <\/i>FInally, be sure to request your need information be shared with other NAU units to verify financial need at OSFA\u2019s Consent to Release information webpage<\/a>.<\/p>\n

    Honors Scholarships and Awards<\/h2>\n

    The scholarships and awards below are available by applying for Honors Awards and scholarships through our own application process that opens in mid-February and closes in early March. The exception is the Mitchem Scholarship, available through the NAU Scholarships application.<\/p>\n

    Honors College Scholarships and Awards are given to Honors College students in good standing. Any renewable scholarships awarded are done so only if students continue to meet criteria for the Scholarship or Award, including GPA, academic standing in Honors, employment, etc. Most scholarships below (except for Barnes, MEister, and Merit can be applied for through OSFA’s Scholarship Universe<\/a>.
