To get your student visa, you will have to pay the fees.
We will then send you a Certificate of Payment and an Offer of Place, so you can get your student visa.
International students are accepted in January, with a small number enrolling in Term 2 (May) and then a larger group in Term 3 (July)
For students studying for NCEA and University entrance (UE) qualifications, we strongly recommend girls study AT LEAST three full time years eg from Year 11 – 13. We would prefer you started at Year 10 if you can.
Girls are only accepted straight into Year 12, with an IELTS score of at least 5.5 or above.
No girl is accepted straight into Year 13.
When you apply for a place at ÐãÉ«Ö±²¥ Girls’ College we have to consider:
If you are offered a place, the HOD (Head of Department) English Language will assess your language level and perhaps some other subjects when you arrive at school. The HOD English Language will then decide what level you can study at in each subject and how much extra English help you will need.
You will be placed in a Form Class according to your age.
You will be placed in subject classes taking into account:
If you are applying for Homestay, the fees invoice will include the Homestay placement fee and a year’s homestay fees in advance, along with your tuition and other fees required. The Homestay fee is held in trust and paid fortnightly to the Homestay family by the College.
UNIFORM
The international team will take your daughter to buy her uniform as part of Orientation.
Watch the video below about what you will wear at WGC from Years 9-12
Some things are generic and she can bring them from home.
Acceptable shoes are plain black leather shoes that cover the top of the foot, have a low heel, are sturdy and suitable for the full range of activities experienced at school.
Acceptable sandals are plain black leather sandals, with an open toe, single strap around the ankle and no heel.
Computer and calculator
Kiwi students are encouraged to buy a Chromebook to use as a device in the classroom – they are good value, work very well with all the Google Apps that we use at school and are light and easy to carry round.
You could also bring a graphics calculator from home, as they are quite expensive in New Zealand. This is a recommendation – Casio fx-9570 graphics calculator. However a scientific calculator would be suitable too.
Stationery
If you have room in your suitcase, you could bring your pencil case, pens, pencil, ruler, eraser, pencil sharpener, highlighters and some basic refill paper as well.
Sports and Outdoor Clothes/Equipment
If you enjoy sports and the outdoors, you could bring your own sleeping bag from home, as well as some good walking boots if you like to hike.
Maybe you could bring your hockey stick, badminton or tennis racquet or other smaller sports equipment.
Thermal undergarments for winter, preferably in white or black so can be worn under uniform
Terms 1, 2 and 3 are approximately 10 weeks of lessons with two weeks holiday between terms.
National NCEA examinations for Years 11,12 and 13 commence early November in term 4, students can return home after exams.
Year 9 and 10 school year finishes early to mid -December in term 4
Summer vacation is December and January
